Growing up I listened to different messages about marriage, and one common phrase that was used was "the will of God". The "will of God" became synonymous with a potential spouse. People found the "will of God" people prayed for the "will of God" Pastors preached about waiting for the "Will of God". I never really got the concept, It sounded theological and religious.
Then there is the Rib Theory. This theory states that at creation of every man, one of his ribs was removed to create his wife. This theory comes from the creation of Eve from Adam's rib in Genesis 2:21-23. The confusion I had with this was, what happens when the wife or husband of a person dies? His rib is gone, that means he cannot remarry or he has to marry another person's rib. Or maybe God made some ladies with spare ribs and they don't really belong to anybody. That sounds ridiculous to me, I stand to be corrected though. This also brings the fear of missing your rib and the doom and gloom if that ever happens. You can imagine the horror of being stuck with someone else's body parts.
The real question here is, Is there someone ordained for you from the foundations of the world? Well, I'll leave you to decide that yourself. One thing I am sure of though, is the fact that in the choice of a girl or a guy to spend your life with, like in the choice of a career or any other part of the life of a Christian, God does guide. God does guide if we allow him. But do we? We allow emotions and our mind to guide us and end up dating I7 people before we get married.
God wants to lead us, allowing him will save us from a lot of hurt and heartbreak. Finding the will of God in anything isn't something so dramatic like you always hear people say with their visions and trances. The will of God is his Word: written or spoken. You have to learn to hear from God now in simple matters and not wait until there are two guys breathing down your neck and you think you need to choose. Because something is dramatic doesn't mean it is God as I learnt recently. You have to be tuned to God and you might find him or her even in places where you're not looking.
"He who finds a wife..." You need to search and find or maybe you need to be found, don't you think it will be smart to bring God into your search party? He already wants to be involved, all you need to do is ask him.
LORD JOSH.
